Wednesday 18th November

We were very busy this lesson! We made food chain story books, creating either an Ocean, Woodland or Rainforest Habitat and food chain. We also set up an observation over time – looking at what animals we can see in our local area over this week. We will record our data this week, ready for us to decide which animals we will need to provide, design and build houses for in our new front garden! Some of us even started to sketch up our habitat designs.

Updated: Wednesday 25th November.

As you can see, we found lots of animals that live in our local area, with lots of butterflies (which we discussed, discovering butterflies hibernate in the winter, giving us an opportunity to discuss reliability!) and lots of birds/minibeasts. We decided it was most important for us to provide homes for the animals we didn’t see very many of, like hedgehogs, as maybe they need a habitat. We are hoping that this time next year the results might look different!
