Today we continued our learning around Materials remotely, moving everything online! This was very exciting, as it meant we could do lots of independent enquiries, which would provide all the children with a wider variety of observation, measurement and recording methods.
Today we explored absorbency. Children were set the challenge to find a range of absorbent materials across the school and home. Once they had found a range of suitable materials, they had to decide on a method of testing them to find out which was the most absorbent. We discussed a few possible methods, including:
- drop method
- measuring
- soaking up
The children were then allowed to record their results in a method of their choice. There were some amazing videos, including use of stop motion to capture the entire enquiry! Well done Year 2 – next week I will provide you with a specific hypothesis for you to prove or disprove!
