2021 British Science Week Day 4

Today is Mrs Loizos’ favourite day…. All things SPACE!!!!!!!!

To start today, we took part in a draw along with Rob Biddulph, children’s author and illustrator, learning how to draw a detailed rocket!

Mrs Loizos came down to teach us too, and she did a Q&A session, taking all of our questions and answering them for us!

After break, we had a LIVE read along and Q&A session with all round Space Hero, Dallas Campbell. He told us all about a history of rockets, and we learnt that people used to strap balloons to the back of animals to see what happened. Dallas was lucky enough to accompany Tim Peake on his launch to the ISS in 2016, and he told us all about it, he even showed us his 2 million pound Bacon Sandwich – that Tim has given to him! He took all of our questions and was really inspiring!

Later on we spoke with NASA Engineer and Inventor, Dennis Bonilla, who has worked with NASA in Texas for 12 years, designing Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality programmes to help train astronauts in flying spacecraft and even on how to put out fire in space!
