LO: I can identify materials appropriate for a range of microhabitats
Today we continued with our study of habitats and microhabitats – finishing our bug hotels and creating a range of different microhabitats for insects and small animals to live.
These included:
- Compost bin – full of grass and plants – for decomposers and grass snakes
- Bug hotel – for small insects
- Log Pile – for larger minibeasts, like beetles, slugs, snails.
- Wildlife Sunbed – for butterflies, dragonflys and other insects that like to fly
- Tyres – full of wet soil and grass for worms, ants and other small insects
- Plastic pile – for bugs and smaller animals looking for waterproof shelter
We are really excited to monitor the wildlife living their over the year.
