LO: I can explore a range of science subjects and skills
Yesterday marked the first day of Gurnard’s annual science week! All the children in the school blasted off to Mars, live streaming all around the world to learn about space exploration. They took part in a range of workshops, shows and activities, from making aliens, to designing and programming Mars rovers!
This week, all the children will receive:
- An Assembly on Science week, learning about it’s History and this years theme: GROWTH
- A dissection taster workshop
- An investigation or practical workshop of their choice, exploring scientific concepts
Across the next few weeks we will be celebrating Science in a variety of ways; this week they will be looking at ‘smashing stereotypes’ in their science lessons, whilst undertaking a ‘Whizz -bang’ practical with their class teachers. Key stage two children will also be able to take part in a dissection taster lesson across the next few days.
Over the coming weeks, we have a visit from Wonderstruck STEM, who will be doing a live show for all children, along with our continued planning for our first science fair, which will be taking place on Thursday 7th April.
