Today we continued to investigate how materials can be changed, before identifying and classifying a range of everyday materials. Once we had confidently grouped our materials, we discussed the features (or properties) each group had. We worked really hard to improve our scientific vocabulary, using words such as: opaque, flexible, rigid and dull.

Today, Year 2 begun their new unit of learning – Materials. Today we went on a virtual tour of the National Marine Aquarium in Plymouth! After meeting Joe, our guide, we toured the entrire aquarium, visiting all of the exhibits; from deep ocean, to coral reef! Today, we continued to strengthen our understanding of habitats, by exploring our meadow outside and finding a range of microhabitats! We loved finding all the different minibeasts, looking at features to describe, sort and classify them.

We were very busy this lesson! We made food chain story books, creating either an Ocean, Woodland or Rainforest Habitat and food chain.
