Today we welcomed everyone back to school today – YIPEE!! Today was another exciting day full of Science, and all of the children made us proud with their engagement, effort and curiosity – especially after months of home-schooling.
To start the day, we explored the timetable for this week, recording and sharing all of the things we were excited about.
At 11am, we met Dr. Alex Sinclair from St Mary’s University in London – he told us all about Mary Anning and the importance of her life and the fossils she discovered. What was most interesting was that she was near to us, hunting for fossils on the Jurassic Coast! We then used pieces of a mystery fossil to inspire us to draw the whole creature, some of us had 1 piece, some had 2 and some had 3 – no surprises that those of us with 3 pieces were able to draw a more complete fossil!
After this, we were able to do a draw along with Rob Biddulph, learning how to draw an Astronaut, as well as a Q&A and a Read Along of ‘Ride the Wind’ with Nicola Davies – we couldn’t believe it when we found out that Albatross birds sometimes go years without landing on the ground!
We can’t wait for tomorrow…
