Today we finally got planting! Wahoooooooooo!
In groups, we spent the beginning of our lesson ensuring we understood the requirements of a plant for growth and survival. We identified:
- Water
- Sunlight
- Nutrients from the Soil
- Air – some of us understood that we needed Carbon Dioxide from the air
- Space to grow – if we planted our seeds too close together, they would compete for the other requirements.
We then moved on to getting our pots ready, filling them with compost. We learnt how to put a hole in the compost using our trowel, ensuring it was deep enough for each type of seed and bulb. We chose 3 seeds/bulbs to plant, a small, a medium and a large! Planting from left to right, we labelled our pots up and are excited to see if we observe any differences in growth between the seed sizes!
